Caitlin B.
Private tutor in North Fort Myers, FL
Education
I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology in April 2016. In August 2016, I will be attending the University of Tennessee for a Specialist Degree in School Psychology.
Experience
I have tutored before. Additionally, Reading and Writing are my two strongest subjects (aside from psychology, of course). I tested in the 93rd percentile for GRE Analytical Writing section (meaning that I performed above 93 percent of people who took the GRE). I tested in the 87th percentile for GRE Reading. I love tutoring because I find it extremely rewarding. English is a tricky subject, especially when you delve into standardized essays! Although there are various types of essays, the same fundamental essay structure will normally do the trick. The hard part is knowing what that is and how to adapt it to, not only the appropriate audience, but also to the appropriate topic.

Hobbies
I'm extremely outgoing! I get along with just about everyone. I absolutely love reading, and I'm dead-set on spreading that love! One of the best way to become a better writer is to read and to be inspired. I usually spend the first session getting an idea of the student's skill level and comfort zones (for example, many students experience test anxiety and this is easily manageable with preparation and the correct tools). I have them write a brief sample essay, have them complete a brief reading comprehension activity, and then help them to outline a plan of attack for problem areas. The subsequent sessions are centered around implementing that plan and getting the student used to timing.
